Susie Hong

Susie Hong

Toddler Community Lead Teacher

Suji moved here in the spring of 2014 from South Korea. Prior to that she worked with young children in an International Bilingual School in South Korea. She also volunteered at her church’s Sunday School Program. Suji is a fully licensed Early Childhood Educator and is currently applying for her Infant-Toddler & Special Needs License to Practice. She also has a Bachelors in Social Welfare and obtained her Social Worker License in South Korea.

Since she began working at Moussi Montessori, Suji has been inspired by the Montessori philosophy, and plans on obtaining Montessori training in the future.  She learns as much from the children and her guide as they do from her. She likes how Montessori teaches children to be independent thinkers with useful applications to daily life that they can carry with them throughout their lives.

Influenced by her sister who is currently doing missionary work all over the world, Susie has developed a new appreciation for foreign languages and cultures. She likes painting, gardening, hiking, reading and especially all kinds of crafts- but her true passion lies with children, the honor of watching them thrive, and the fulfillment that comes with the work she does with them.

Rachael Trafford

Rachael Trafford

Toddler Community Assistant

Rachael moved to Squamish from Ontario in September of 2016. She was born and raised in the small town of Peterborough, ON which is approximately an hour and a half outside of Toronto.

Rachael received her Social Service Worker diploma from Sir Sanford Fleming College in 2014. She began working as a frontline shelter counsellor at a shelter for women and their children who had fled domestic violence. She worked closely with many agencies within the community to ensure that the families received the utmost support and were able to get back on their feet with renewed confidence, self esteem and self worth.

While working with the families, Rachael quickly realized she was drawn to supporting the children. Once she made the move to Squamish, Rachael decided to take this opportunity to seek a career more centred around supporting children.

In her spare time Rachael enjoys being outdoors, camping and hiking as many trails as possible with her golden retriever Tucker right beside her! She has found the Squamish community to be extremely welcoming and is thankful for the hospitality she has received from its residence. She feels privileged to say she now lives in a community filled with so much heart and is proud to call Squamish her home!

Kirsy Alvarez

She recently moved to BC to pursue a Bachelor’s of ECCE at Capilano University. Kirsy has worked with children in a bilingual preschool and school age setting as well as serving families as a nanny.
